2BR vs. 3BR matters a lot here. Thin inventory; mix of older bungalows and newer townhomes.

Summary

Chosewood Park is a small, quiet residential pocket in southeast Atlanta, just south of Grant Park and Peoplestown, about three miles southeast of downtown. It’s named after the six-acre city park at its center. The housing stock is mostly 1920s and 1940s craftsman bungalows that originally went up as workforce housing for the Atlanta Federal Penitentiary and the Lakewood GM assembly plant. The BeltLine’s Southside Trail runs right through, and Boulevard Crossing Park sits on the northern edge.

Honestly, this one’s more of a proximity play than something you can really plan around. You’ve already got a friend here, Cabbagetown and Grant Park are minutes away, and the Summerhill Publix is a quick drive. Rental inventory is genuinely thin (most of what shows up in 30315 searches is actually in adjacent pockets), so you kind of have to wait it out. When a bungalow or new-build townhome pops up in the $1,600 to $2,400 range, you pounce.

Amenities

  1. Chosewood Park (the park) (city park, ~1300 block of Boulevard SE / Hutchinson St SE). Six-acre green space with tennis and basketball courts, baseball field, playground, and grilling area; expanded 2010 with six additional acres of wooded nature trails (Certified Wildlife Habitat).
  2. Boulevard Crossing Park (BeltLine park, 500 Englewood Ave SE). Five-acre BeltLine greenspace with regulation soccer field, multi-use activity fields, and covered pavilion; phase two will expand to 25 acres.
  3. Hudson & Alphonse Deli (sandwich shop, 300 Milton Ave SE). Neighborhood deli famous for its steak sub and special sauce; lunch and early-evening hours, closed Sundays.
  4. Red’s Beer Garden (bar, 1328 Boulevard SE). Low-key outdoor beer garden on the Chosewood/Benteen Park edge; late-night neighborhood watering hole with hot dogs.
  5. Publix at Summerhill (grocery, 572 Hank Aaron Dr SE). Primary grocery anchor for the neighborhood, ~2 mi north (technically adjacent).
  6. Little Bear (restaurant, 71 Georgia Ave SE). Michelin Bib Gourmand from chef Jarrett Stieber over in adjacent Summerhill; short drive for special-occasion dining.
  7. Atlanta BeltLine Southside Trail (trail, runs through neighborhood). Paved multi-use trail connecting to the rest of the BeltLine loop; primary bike/walk corridor.

Note: Chosewood Park is intentionally small and residential. Most food and coffee lives a short drive or walk north in Summerhill, Grant Park, or the Beacon development. See Vibe below.

Inventory reality: most 30315 search results surface adjacent neighborhoods (Lakewood, Thomasville Heights, Peoplestown). True Chosewood Park bungalow rentals at the per-spec $1,600 to $2,200 are thin and move fast. Set saved searches on Zillow, HotPads, and Zumper filtered to the polygon rather than the ZIP.
